How to Reopen a Completed Activity in Microsoft Dynamics 365

by | Nov 14, 2017 | Microsoft Dynamics 365

A simple fix to a common D365 problem

As you might have already noticed, once you’ve completed an activity like a phone call or a task inside of Dynamics 365 for Sales, you can no longer reopen or edit that activity. This can be quite annoying if you ever forget to add any information when completing an activity, because there is no easy, out-of-the-box way to go back in and edit it.

That’s why Azamba has built an add-on to solve this problem. The Completed Activity Unlocker allows you to reopen an activity in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Sales after it is marked completed, so you can always add or edit whatever you need.

How to use the Completed Activity Unlocker

In this example, we will use the Completed Activity Unlocker to quickly and easily reopen an activity record for a phone call that is already marked as completed.

Click on Run Workflow
Select the Reopen Phone Call process and click Add
A confirmation window will appear; click OK to confirm
Reload the activity record

The record status should now be Open, which will allow you to add to or edit the activity however you need. When you are done, mark the activity as Complete once again.

You can do the same with any of your activities, so if you run into this extremely common Dynamics 365 problem, all you need is the Completed Activity Unlocker to reopen an activity in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Sales!
